Bespoke business systems, built by an engineer who's shipped them.

I design and build billing, quotation, order management and stock systems for operations-heavy businesses, plus the integrations that connect them to the outside world.

What I build

Most of my work replaces spreadsheets, ad-hoc scripts and out-grown legacy tools with proper, maintained systems, built around how the business actually operates.

Billing systems

Usage-based and subscription billing, invoice generation, and the reconciliation logic that keeps finance teams out of spreadsheets.

Quotation & order management

From first enquiry to signed order: configurable pricing, approval flows, and a clean handover into fulfilment.

Stock & inventory systems

Real-time stock visibility across locations, with the audit trail operations teams need when something goes missing.

Device & network monitoring

Dashboards and alerting for infrastructure-heavy businesses: status, uptime and fault visibility in one place.

Address & carrier integrations

Postcode lookup, coverage checks and carrier API integrations that make address and connectivity search actually usable.

Legacy modernisation

Migrating ASP.NET WebForms and older .NET systems onto modern, maintainable foundations, without a risky big-bang rewrite.

Automated reporting

Scheduled reports pulled straight from your billing, stock and monitoring data, so nobody's building the same spreadsheet by hand every week.

Technical expertise

Core

C#, .NET (Framework & .NET Core), ASP.NET (WebForms & MVC), Entity Framework

Data

SQL Server, hands-on schema, table and stored procedure design, T-SQL, data modelling for transactional business systems

Integrations

RESTful API design & consumption, postcodes.io, UK carrier & network-provider APIs, address and coverage search

Infrastructure

MikroTik networking, SD-WAN systems and network management tooling

How a project runs

01

Discovery call

A short call to understand the problem, the current process, and what “done” looks like.

02

Scope & quote

A written scope and a fixed or day-rate quote, so there are no surprises once we start.

03

Build & check in

Regular working demos, not a black box until the deadline.

04

Handover & support

Documentation, a clean handover, and support after launch if you need it.

About

I'm a senior software developer based in Lancashire, UK, working primarily in C# and .NET. Most of my career has been spent building internal systems for operations-heavy businesses: the billing, quoting, stock and monitoring tools that keep a company running day to day, plus the integrations that connect them to carriers, address databases and other external services.

I also have a networking background (MikroTik, SD-WAN), which tends to help when the software has to talk to real infrastructure. I take on a small number of contract and fractional engagements alongside my full-time role, so availability is limited at any given time. Get in touch and we can figure out if it's a good fit.
